We provide temporary housing to families in need.

We will temporarily house up to 8 to 10 working families that are homeless in the Dorchester, Mattapan, and Hyde Park area due to foreclosure, eviction, fire, flood, etc. These families are not eligible for emergency assistance (ea) through the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) due to their income. Families should have to terminate their employment to become eligible for emergency assistance through the DTA to obtain shelter. We will assist these families with resources to obtain permanent housing.

A Quick Fact

63.4 percent of respondents to a UMass poll identified housing affordability as an issue of significant concern. When compared to other major public policy issues, housing affordability and jobs rank as the public policy issues of greatest concern to state residents.

Success Story

Yolanda Gomez came to us in February 2004 with her 18-month-old daughter, Sophia. Yolanda was homeless after having fled a domestic violence situation. She was also seven months pregnant. After two years in our program she moved into a brand new apartment, graduated with an associate degree and is now steadily employed.
